We all know how Beauty Pageants are run. Each competitor competes in three stages of initial competition: Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown. The marks from these categories are totaled, and the contenders with the greatest scores become semifinalists.(How was I glued to this as a child? I blame the pretty

dresses!)The Interview: Based on poise, charm, self-confidence and her ability to communicate, as well as the substance of her answers.

  • Swimsuit: the attention is focused on the beauty of face, figure, physical fitness, stage presence, and the confidence with which each contestant carries herself.
  • Evening Gown: Focused on each contestant’s overall appearance, self-confidence, and the beauty she brings to the gown of her choice. She is evaluated on grace, poise, style, stage presence, and overall impression

This is an actual format I saw on a beauty pageant info page- when asked what the scores are based on. Luckily enough there is something else for genuine inspiring beauties. (Check out if I nominated you towards the end.) I literally dropped my phone with I got recommended by La Mama Hada thanks to this eccentric young mama who loves to promote positivity, self-love & individuality; she happens to also be a little bit fashion obsessed.Of course, she is my favorite blogger and #VLOGGER check out her Youtube channel.

Now Lets get Personal:7 Facts About Moi

1.IS NOT ABOUT BRAND IS ABOUT STYLE

(You can read the sidebar and check how I got into the fashion industry.) I was 17 at the time and my shopping habits didn’t match the no-income salary. This is it I told myself to grow up is time to get a job, I saw a pastel pink awning labeled Pookie & Sebastian(a boutique known for carrying an outstanding collection of to-the-minute trends.) I asked if they were hiring and the store manager handed me an application, she interviewed me right away. Looking back at it now I laugh because I got interviewed in my school uniform. After working for a few months, a customer asked if I could be her personal stylist. I had a dumbfounded look on my face yet when I open my mouth I said of course. Thanks to her I booked a few styling gigs and it became my first side hustle. You can see my full styling portfolio on Sheismelrose.com

2.IS THE STOP THAT INSPIRES US TO GO

As you read in Not Your Typical 6’0, Size 0 Model.I don’t fit the modeling industry standards. I modeled at a fashion show when I was a child (wish I had the photos) but I haven’t done “a go” see in ages.

Last year I was working at my last retail job Diesel. I worked there for about two years and a half and I also had the chance to intern in the wholesales division. Unfortunately, the 5th thanks location was closing down.

Every Failure there is an opportunity

Mine was breaking into the corporate side of fashion what I always wanted to do. Working as a showroom assistant for fashion designer Dusica Sacks. Sadly, the opportunity turned out to be a real “Devil Wear Prada” situation and I decided to quit. I preferred finding another job before quitting, but work was becoming 12 to 14 hours since I was the only one in the office. One day I got a DM on Instagram from one of my favorite underground rapper, Klassik Frescobar who offered me to be the main model for his video. From that experience, I got featured in another video. This caught the attention of my prior modeling manager and I got to work for Dulce Models Agency from time to time I work on different projects mainly promo.  3.Living Proof

This one may be a tough read yet still a positive one. At the tender age of 9 I tried to jump out my fire escape window. That’s how long I suffered from depression. Now people looked down and say oh is a mental thing that is so easy to fix. Dealing with mental health is never easy. In the past couple year and a half, I finally got a chance to visit my roots, which is Puerto Rico. I had an never ending conversation with my father and that’s when he mention “The Secret”.

Now I’m not saying all you have to do is believe in an upbeat manner to have an amazing life; I highly believe in the act of doing to.

Since then I’ve been doing more things that help bring confidence in my life. (Example I went back to doing yoga, got into chakras and self-help books)

Having self love is one of the best loves anyone could have.

In honor of overcoming depression, I’m getting my 7th tattoo for the New Year.

4.THE BEGINNING OF IT ALL.

Be Your Own Muse

Originally when I started blogging it wasn’t like a fashion blogger.I also didn’t want a following or to be recognized at all.The page is private, and it piggybacks to fact # 3. Penning emotions through poetry and embracing happiness has been hard to translate into words. Many new year resolutions are quitting smoking/ quit drinking mine to write poetry again.

5.CLOSETS ARE FOR CLOTHES

If you have been a loyal reader since day one first and foremost thank you, secondly this fact is for those who don’t know me personally. I’m a lesbian who came out later in life and now to you. Alert!  Big announcement for me via blogging because I feared losing readers and being subjected in a category. Apparently, I put my fears aside and hoping as a reader you can still see me for the great content I put out, rather than judging for what’s part of me.

Wedding Dresses NZLuckily I go to numerous events highlighting the on-going importance of a LGBT member working for America. Recently I supported the Transgender Equality at a state empire gala.

6.AMBITION DRIVER

Why So Ambitious? Not to toot my own horn but I get this question constantly. For the most part, I tell my mother, but I never go into details. Here are the details:

At 5, I was temporarily homeless, luckily not for long and was placed in a shelter. At one point, I remember my mom working three jobs. I looked at her and told myself I never want to work that hard. The page has turned and now all I can do is think about work, at least, I can say I love what I do so I don’t see it as work. I know I could never fully repay her, but I try step by step.

7.The Future Is Now!

the-essentials-of-bloggingI started blogging in high school like most bloggers do. (Of course, like most beginner bloggers we start and take long breaks and get back to it. )Then one day my friend offered me to teach a blogger workshop class. I looked at her and said I couldn’t do it. She insisted if there is anyone who could teach the class it should be me.Not realizing it then, in all my social media platforms I conquered online promoting. My first bloggers meet up was a few months ago, and I hope to do more shortly. You can view the meet up –> Just Click Here. Now I have a full-time job (working as a Sales & Merchandising Assistant), so I decided to teach online.

  4. I have read a great quote for Jose Micard Teixeira and I think that applies to me – ““I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I’ve become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me….And on top of everything I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.” I hope that you may also find wisdom in this quote. May you have a blessed New Year!

  5. This is such a wonderful and courageous post that young people who are struggling with their identity should read and see what a wonderful person you are and should be allowed to be! I will continue reading your blog and enjoy what you share

  6. It’s sad to hear that you suffered some pretty low moments with your depression, but it’s fabulous that you’ve battled back and are living a wonderful life! It was so interesting to read about you!

  7. “It really is practically extremely difficult to find well-qualified individual on this subject, nonetheless you look like you comprehend those things you’re posting on! Thanks A Lot”
