It’s not the Big Apple, New York or even the acronym, NYC. Us locals call it “the city.” Now here I am in the city, singing along to Big Sean, “I’m way up I feel blessed, way up I feel blessed.” I connect to this song in a way that I’m lucky and fortunate enough to be raised and still live in this melting pot. Unfortunately, I can’t give out free dim sum after reading this article. All jokes aside, being a fashion addict and experiencing living almost each borough, let’s exclude Staten Island is an amazing adventure. I can quickly take a look out of my apartment window and get inspired. Whether it’s the scenery or the person: right now it’s a guy walking efficiently on the cracked sidewalk. He is wearing an oversize leather tote, a pair of black cat-eye frames and wrapped with an infinity scarf.

Another highlight of the city….There is always something going on. (especially in the evenings). About a week and a half ago, I was invited to an event by one of my good friends and brilliant fashion designer Kevin Shahroozi.

The event was hosted by Resident Magazine. A lifestyle magazine dedicated to Manhattanites. What is a Manhattanite? You may ask a native or inhabitant of the borough Manhattan. The magazine is published on a monthly basis and covers everything from travel, arts, dining and our favorite word fashion. The cover for the month of December was a celebrity chef, Todd English. The charming celebrity is not only recognized for his culinary expertise, back in 2001 People magazine awarded him on the list as one of their 50 Most Beautiful People. Now years later he is still making headlines. I will have to take some time off one day and see what the whole craze is about. He owns restaurants around the world; luckily I  won’t have to travel around just to sample a dish. I can try a dish from his food hall at the one and only Plaza Hotel on 5th Avenue. For someone who considered cooking a hobby,  is now an international star chef. Not bad Mr.English, you keep people like me going.

Not only did I get the pleasure of meeting Todd English, but I also got to roam around seamlessly in the event which took place in one of their most luxurious residences. Each possessed something aesthetically pleasing to look at. From a tortoise shell display wall to a series of various paintings. I can say that whoever the future tenant is, will be one very lucky New Yorker. I also embraced the way Manhattanites were dressed it influenced my styling for the rest the week. #allblackeverything
