IMG_4290 Drake’s new song, “One Dance” is pumping in your headphones, your water bottle filled to the top, you’re all set to hop on the treadmill. One minute into your cardio workout, you happen to glance over  your shoulder to realize the person next to you is fully covered in a garbage bag. Trash bags might work wonders, however, it shouldn’t be an excuse to let go of your stylish self for just an hour or two at the gym. Seriously working out is painful enough, you don’t have to look it. Just follow these 3 simple ways to look chic at the gym!

whiteleggings

Personally, my go-to item for the gym is leggings. When buying leggings to work out, I highly suggest paying attention to fabric. Here’s a helpful tip; try leggings with spandex, elastane, or lycra. These fabrications is usually mixed with technologies that will make your workout a breeze. Some of the techniques included are:

  •  Flat-lock stitching is great to avoid the annoying chafing against the skin  (flat-lock stitching means over sewing the seams of a garment to help strengthen and prevent fraying)
  • Moisture Wicking helps draw moisture away from the skin. Since the moisture drifts from the surface, the garment does not hold onto sweat.
  • Some may have anti-bacterial properties built-in to negate odors which accumulate from sweat. Which are made out of the bamboo fiber.

t-shirts

If you’re a rookie to the gym like I was a few months ago you’ll realize a 100% cotton t-shirts, will eventually be drenched  with sweat after your exercise. Similar to leggings, look for fabrics in tees that are breathable. A couple of blends that I love are polyester and lycra, I find them to last longer than regular cotton and are more comfortable.

hoodies

If your goal is to sweat, then that’s where the hoodie comes in (along with an abdominal binder wrap). Make sure you’re not overdoing your cardio session by putting the extra pressure on yourself. A hoodie is great for  burning calories more efficiently, less time on a treadmill and it’s a way of detoxing your body. Just don’t forget to drink water and stay consistent with working out.
