Circling the fashion charts, the MIDI is making another comeback soon. The midi has found it’s way to last throughout the decades, falling somewhere between the “it girl” trendy piece and the working women staple. And throughout the decades, short girls have avoided the silhouette due to various fashion sites like the iconic Who What Wear. The fashion site has a whole post dedicating many trends small girls should avoid.I read each one, after rolling my eyes and sucking my teeth by these ridiculous claims.I dedicated to a trend that will emerge in 2017.Consider yourself ready for the midi trend.

SERIOUSLY WHAT UP WITH ALL THE RULES ON WHAT SHORT GIRLS SHOULD WEAR?

I’m here to say as a small girl myself (standing at 5’4); you can pull off the MIDI and look damn good in it!

midi5 Single Ways Short Girls Can Pull Off The Midi

1.Measure the Length of your style: Stay true to yourself pick a length that will work best for you depending on what you want the midi to do for you.If you like a taller statue, choose a dress slightly above the knee.Have you’ve always been a fan of a Maxi dress but always found yourself tripping over your two feet? If you answered yes, a medial calf would create the perfect illusion of a longer dress.

2.Wear block heels: A block heel helps elongates your legs whether you wear a 6-inch block heel or a 3 inch.It also gives the dress an effortless look.A Bonus feature of a block heel: is def easier to walk around than a pair of stilettos!

3.Try a lighter fabric (like a mesh or a stretch jersey knit): A lighter fabric will help avoid the chaos of a frumpy figure

4.(If you can’t commit to a lighter material)Wear a Belt: It helps give your waist definition and not get lost in your midi.It is optional due to the fabric you are wearing. A jersey knit similar to the one I’m wearing to the right will be clingy; be unnecessary.

5.Select an A-line silhouette or a Bodycon.
An A-line shape is universally flattering on every body type. It also gives us an elegance. If you like a more modern twist to a midi, go with a sculpting-bodycon.It also a great base for layering.

  1. I tend to not pay attention to things like that. I am shorter than you and wear any length, I know short girls aren’t supposed to wear long maxi skirts either but I do.

  2. Shoes make such a difference! I’m pretty average and used to think that some styles were just for those 5’8″ and over but heals have saved the day!

  3. haha!! This is my first time on your page and let me say I really enjoy your style of writing! I’m not short but I have really really huge boobs hahah, so there are certain styles that I simply feel like I can never wear, it is nice to see that there is always a way to take something and make it your own!
    love from Sweden!

  4. I am 5′ 1″ and have learned that I can pull of just about any trend as long as I switch things up a bit to fit my frame. Love that dress on you!
