Make Up Lovers Swoon to Brooklyn For NYX Cosmetics Grand Opening Event

The mall where we like to shop till were broke may be a thing of the past, well at least for makeup lovers. Myself along with about 1000 ladies googly eye for applying eyeliner and lipstick lined up in the King Plaza Mall for NYX Cosmetics grand opening.

I found the NYX store on the first floor of the mall (in the far back),  An NYX associate dressed in jet black greeted me with a tray full sugar cookies.The associate asked if I wanted one and as I grab the cookie, I immediately blushed.The cookie represented a sponge puff used for the foundation.In the center of the cookie it had eyes shut, flaunting faux lashes. The sugar cookie is an appropriate treat for the grand opening event.

I was considered one of the early-birds when I gathered up with other makeup lovers on the bubble-gum-colored carpet.All the early birds received a complimentary cherry red lip-shaped makeup bag and a mystery scratch off for freebies or discounts at the store.I scratch immediately in hopes for a freebie(we all know bloggers love their freebies).Unfortunately, I didn’t get a freebie, but I was elated about the $5 off with $25 purchase. (any little bit of discount helps for this shopaholic).

As I waited for the doors to open, I  jammed to hip-hop tunes from radio station Power 105.1 FM. Two ladies from the radio station were hosting giveaways for anyone who knew fun facts about NYX. Feeling slightly ashamed for someone who has used the products for quite some time and unaware of the answers I took the opportunity to learn more about the NYX brand. A couple of things I learned is the makeup brand is named after the Greek goddess of the night.Another fun fact I learned was the brand originated in Los Angeles, a city I’ve been dying to visit.

After the giveaway, I made small talk with a few
Beautiful ladies and asked them what brought them to the event.Their answer was similar to mine: the products they’re looking for is always sold out in their neighborhood beauty supply store.Another struggle is trying to buy all your makeup products at a luxury cosmetics store such as Sephora. At the end of the day, you don’t have to spend a whole check on makeup to have high-quality makeup.

After switching Instagram accounts with the girls, the pink ribbon ceremony commences and the doors finally open. The feeling I felt at that moment is comparable to having gates inaugurated in Six Flags Great Adventures open.The side of the store is decorated with videos of makeup influencers like  @jackieaina and @patrickstarrr rocking their products, and was taking time out to do a meet and greet at Kings  Plaza Mall, The opportunity of a meet and greet was impossible due to my tight schedule that day.

I took a step inside of the small NYX store and watched the customers pounce makeup chairs waiting for contour lessons and advice on the product must haves by the NYX associates.I scoured around and  fell in love with the variety the store provided it’s NYX heaven.

My haul included a  Highlight and Contour Pro Singles powder in a cream shade.It helps my concealer appear as a matte full coverage finish.I also purchased the banana illuminating powder to make my contour more define. (I’m still in the beginning stages of contouring so don’t expect any beauty tutorials from me anytime soon).Another product I purchased for the face is the Cheek and Contour Duo Palette I was in dying need of an affordable highlighter; the blush was a bonus.This product retailed for $9.00. I also bought their Ombre Lip Duo in cookies and cream. A sweet bonus about the cookie and cream lip duo it can double up as a lip liner.  I know I got my $12.00 money worth on that bad boy.I previously befriended a beauty blogger on Instagram and told myself I needed her liquid suede cream lipstick in stone fox as soon as possible.I rejoiced with joy replacing a nasty black oily lipstick I’ve been using for stone fox.Stone fox has a great undertone in the shade of blue.Once applied it gives off a dark gray/medium black matte feel.I also got a pack of false, wicked lashes because I feel faux lashes completes a night around the town look. I will only complain about one fact, the lack of eyelashes packs.For example a pack of four or more. I tend to wear false eyelashes on the weekends, and hopefully, my small request for eyelashes packs can help NYX create their next beauty project.
