Being bohemian is more than just a look, is a way of life. Although I don’t dress in the typically patterned maxi dresses, wearing a flower crown on a daily basis, I do believe in the lifestyle.A bohemian is known to indulge most of their time expressing themselves in an artistic way. An artistic way can be painting, writing or music, creating is the forte. Another belief to this lifestyle is living like a nomad. If you’re a traveling nomad like the song Gyspy Woman sung by Crystal Waters or living in the moment, it ends with the same result. You try to live a life without stress, and you take it day by day.
When it comes to dressing bohemian, a real boho girl wouldn’t care about what anyone thinks. She usually wears whatever she wants. However, the fashion world painted a picture for what boho fashion is in a general sense.
In addition to layering, you want to make sure to not over do it. You have to separate the child in you who usually likes to wear all their favorite things at once. This means knowing what texture will compliment each other. For example, you wouldn’t wear a skirt with ruffles and a crochet top together. Know your balance and you will ace the layering part of this style.
Although you won’t see me wearing maxi dresses on a daily basis, I’m a big fan of long skirt. A maxi skirt is a piece of apparel that I often turn to over and over again when crafting my outfits. The best ones are simple, solid-colored, and not too poofy as they are the easiest to build outfits from.Mostly I make sure is in a dark or neutral tone to make an easy swap from my everyday jeans. For this look, I used a jet-black cut-out booties.
Boho fashion should not fit tight like a glove. The fabrics and style of clothing should feel as you can breathe. Not like in the ancient days where tight corsets were standard. The key is to be comfortable. If you have to wear something fitted because you’re trying to refuse your tunic to look like a “mumu,” then you can wear pants or leggings/stockings. The loose-fitting tunic I’m wearing has a twisted teardrop print, also known as the paisley print. I paired the outfit with gray Chelsea boots.
To top off a boho fashion forward look you have to figure out which accessories to wear. Let’s start with bracelets. Bangles, woven and wooden bracelets are the style that is highly used.
Secondly is earrings. Most jewelry used are the one similar to a chandelier. My favorite one I own has stones like amethyst and turquoise.
Lastly is the necklace. The chain you can use has a wide range. You can use leather, metal, stones, shells fringe in different lengths. I went with a modern look and used a body chain.
The boots for this style is my favorite pair of riding boots. You can get a similar pair of boots online at the King Ranch. The boots are great quality and will naturally distress over time completing the boho chic look.
