The sunshine should be child play, nonetheless, within the past few weeks of spring, it seems like the sun has been struggling. Every time I step outside, I think it believes I am a newborn and set on playing a game of peek-a-boo. As the sun covers his eyes, I imagine the white sandy beaches, emerald palm trees, and refreshing drinks. Now, I am home from work and, the sun still did not uncover his hands from his eyes, I spent all day in a foggy mist.
Life is a mix of cloudy moments, we as women try to grain them like sugar and we create Lemonade!
We don’t give ourselves enough credit; we work ourselves to the core. I believe all women can agree, giving ourselves a break always seems unrealistic. So when I decided to be finally a lazy bum for a day, it was hard to make good on an idea of having an unproductive day. There I was trying to commit, cuddled with my comforter catching up on episodes of EMPIRE. ( Sadly that’s how far behind I am on any tv show.) In between episodes, I found myself checking on 756 emails, solely not to miss out on a business opportunity. I have a problem with a running mind; it never stops thinking about work. I had to say out loud to STOP. I even took a step further into committing to the lazy day by canceling on a scheduled yoga session. I continued to stay true to letting myself unwind for once and tune into the visual album “LEMONADE” by Beyonce.
STOP making yourself feel horrible for things you didn’t do last year. Don’t overstress your goal list for 2016 (literally don’t know we are only a week and a half into the new year). Take it easy, sit on your couch, and make your hot cocoa. Top off the warm beverage with a bunch of fluffy marshmallows. Or uncork the bottle of wine; it’s been teasing you after a long week. Relax and after a few sips take a look around your living area. Take a mental picture and ask yourself, “Is my living room a representation of me”…What is your answer? YES, or is it NO. I’m a strong believer in a goal list. However, I’m keener on building a home that is comfortable for you; peace starts there. If your answer is NO, your environment can affect your attitude so why not help it mold to a positive one. If your answer is YES you don’t have to stop reading I will enlist various coffee tables to fit your fashion personality along with a bonus feature of coffee table essentials to help you continue your happy home.
Your LBD (little black dress) is a way of life. Tailoring is a staple. Your closet is considered a conveyor belt of streamlined silhouettes. Asymmetrical pieces make your heart beat faster. Yesterday was December 18; 2015.The First Quarter Moon rose at 12:00 pm. It signifies challenges, decisions, and action. Let us start with the first meaning of The First Quarter Moon with a style challenge. After all, it feels like only yesterday that we rang in a new year, and now here we are again in a few weeks. We all get to the end of the year and rant on things that we should quit. Most of the New Year resolutions♦ acquire stopping bad habits. I’m all down for self-improvement, yet this year I thought why not something different. Instead of focusing on the negative let’s flip it into something positive.
We all know how Beauty Pageants are run. Each competitor competes in three stages of initial competition: Interview, Swimsuit, and Evening Gown. The marks from these categories are totaled, and the contenders with the greatest scores become semifinalists.(How was I glued to this as a child? I blame the pretty
dresses!)The Interview: Based on poise, charm, self-confidence and her ability to communicate, as well as the substance of her answers.
- Swimsuit: the attention is focused on the beauty of face, figure, physical fitness, stage presence, and the confidence with which each contestant carries herself.
- Evening Gown: Focused on each contestant’s overall appearance, self-confidence, and the beauty she brings to the gown of her choice. She is evaluated on grace, poise, style, stage presence, and overall impression
This is an actual format I saw on a beauty pageant info page- when asked what the scores are based on. Luckily enough there is something else for genuine inspiring beauties. (Check out if I nominated you towards the end.) I literally dropped my phone with I got recommended by La Mama Hada thanks to this eccentric young mama who loves to promote positivity, self-love & individuality; she happens to also be a little bit fashion obsessed.Of course, she is my favorite blogger and #VLOGGER check out her Youtube channel.
In present day people tend to idolize only two female icons; Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.Taking a personal bullet here admitting I’m not fond of either.Idolizing these icons style is safe in the fashion industry and I get why these two sensational ladies appeal to the public eye.A majority of people in the United States favor them. Marilyn Monroe, “the queen of seduction” has been labeled all kinds sexy because of her voluptuous body. Ironically Monroe body is still idolized, even though we’re living in the world where it is sexy to be thin.Luckily in not your typical 6’0 size 0 model you can see the evolution of models and how the world is slowly accepting other ideas of beauty. On the other hand, Audrey Hepburn was viewed as classy and different because she was thin all around in a decade where the only woman with larger breast would be noticed. Continue reading

She is measure From the roots of her hair down to the shape of her toenails. Just like you, she scoured the pages of Vogue magazine before she can even talk. (Side note Vogue is similar to elementary school for fashionistas. There are far more interesting magazines such as Pop, More, Nylon. Her guilty favorite is Company Street Style Edit a magazine constructed for bloggers.) She grew older and saw fashion shows on the internet while her family is tune into the television. Fast-forward to the time of her being a junior in a fashion based college studying fashion publications.
The first day of taking a fashion magazine course in the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising was exciting. It seemed like a dream come true. Until she realized, what was wrong with the industry. Brainwashing females on how the ideal women should look like! Especially sex-crazed Cosmopolitan magazine is the perceiving woman as second-class human being. Let’s face reality mannequins don’t have to eat or workout out. They’re still life factory-made objects. So why is the apparel industry so keen to making women feel they should look like them. She quickly switched her major to fashion merchandising. Although is still the same industry is a different aesthetic.
The art of this roller coaster industry is the clothes itself.
