A couple of weekends ago, I ditched getting take-out and decided to cook dinner. Continuing with the plans, I went to Trader Joe’s supermarket. The ultimate goal is to create one of my favorite dishes, Alfredo Ground Turkey Pasta. After food shopping, I rush home and reach for my apartment keys, and my eyes lit up. A package from Le Grand Verre, a French artisan wine company that offers wine kits arrive. That when I knew it’s going to be a great night!

I truly believe, my pasta meal just got more interesting. As I open the door to my apartment and unload the bags of food, I came up with the idea of pairing my dinner with wine tasting. I’ve done subscription boxes before but nothing quite this good. The kit includes an array of red wine and everyone favorite Rose. The name of each wine is listed below:

  • Petal and Thorn
  • Ultra Violet
  • Les Mots Doux
  • Tightrope Walker’s-Sophisticated Rose

A winemaker handcrafts every single wine bottle in the box. Not only does the box come in an adorable 6.3 oz packaging, but it also includes cards for you to know who made your wine.

Along with the name of the winemaker, there is a brief story behind each one. The card also lists the top three ingredients and the level of body, fruit, spices, and wood flavor to help guide you. As a bonus, it also notes which type of grape is in each one — feeling as you went to a vineyard in France without fulling committing to the plane trip.

Le Grand Verre

The first bottle I chose to taste is Petal and Thorn. This particular bottle is from the Gamay grape. The blend is a perfect mix of bright fruits and delicate flower aromas. For fruity drink is more on a stronger side. With a thirteen percent alcohol percentage, it makes sense.

The second bottle is Les Mots Doux. Not only is it my personal favorite from the collection it also has a cute drawing on the package. The grapes that help create this wine is Cabernet Fran and Grenache. This wine is perfect for relaxation.

The third bottle is UltraViolet. If I had to pick which one is my least favorite out of the collection, this would be it. I honestly don’t hate it. The taste is similar to sangria, and I can see myself cutting fresh fruits now and letting it soak in overnight. Pinot Noir is the grape of this bottle.

The fourth bottle is almost every one obsession of the summer the Sophisticated Rose. My favorite mix with a Rose is using Pellegrino and fresh raspberries. I got the recipe of a restaurant a few summers ago, and now it is hard for me to drink it on it’s on. The creator claim this one, in particular, is seasonless. While tasting the mix of grapes merlot and cabernet franc I can see myself still drinking this on a winter day.
