For ages, people have been using natural remedies to help heal the body’s largest organ, the skin. The body’s skin is always in growth, with old cells continually dying and new cells forming. As I’ve always been a fan of keeping my skin moisturized, I’ve been straying away from lotions and using more body butter. The reason being body butter last longer than any cream. My recent handmade avocado shea butter can help boost self-love confidence.

What I use to make the Avocado Shea Butter

As you might know, as of now, I make handmade reiki infused skincare, bath, candles, and more. The avocado shea butter is no different. I carefully pick colors, ingredients, and crystal to help gear towards self-love confidence. To make the whipped body butter, I gather  the following:

  • raw African shea butter
  • aloe
  • avocado oil
  • coconut oil
  • essential oil (in this case, I use sandalwood)
  • glass jars
  • tickets for personalization
  • wooden spoons
  • glass toppers
  • hand mixer
  • a container to mix (I use my double boiler)
  • mica powder
  • zip lock bag
  • frosting tip
  • glitter (only sprinkle on top for decoration)

Shea Butter

First, I cut the natural African shea butter in little squares, making it easy to break down. The butter is from the nut of an African Shea tree. The fatty acids render far superior as the other commonly known butter, Cocoa butter. It’s therapeutic properties protect the skin from the wind, cold, and sun. And help aid damaged skin.

Other benefits of using African Shea butter includes treating eczema and minor burns. Pain relief from swelling and arthritis, improving muscle relaxation and stiffness. The shea butter doubles as a sunscreen from the vitamins E and D. As someone who suffers from dark spots, skin discoloration, and blemishes. I can vow shea butter helps this skin problem but also famous for stretch marks and wrinkles.

Aloe

Afterward, I cut open fresh aloe. Fresh aloe also aids in many skin problems similar to shea butter. The aloe helps aid in moisturizing dry skin, fights to age, lighten blemishes, psoriasis, treats acne. All great benefits, however, why I mainly add aloe to the body butter is it stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid, helping with natural collagen and elasticity.

Coconut and Avocado Oil

I add both ingredients in the double boiler, my version of a mixing bowl. Then I scoop coconut oil, which is excellent for protecting the skin from harmful bacteria and reducing inflammation. Afterward, I add a capful of avocado oil. Honestly, I just started to use avocado in my skin regime, and my first thought was what can’t avocados 🥑  do. I use oil to help with my hair; however, it has many skin benefits. Including similar benefits from the shea butter such as protecting skin from harmful UV rays, hydrate dry skin (eczema and psoriasis), reduce redness and irritation, and ironically avoid oil build-up, which in case of help prevents clog pores.

The Scent

Lastly, to help lessen the nutty aroma, I add about six to eight drops of sandalwood essential oil. I mainly use this scent because it can help benefit acne, wrinkles, eczema, psoriasis, stress, and so much more. I always make sure the essential oil I select while adding to the products has similar benefits. Giving the hand mixer a spin until everything is smash up evenly.

The Color

After the ingredients are blended to give it the avocado coloring, I pour in green hues of mica, a safe skin colorant. Then I use the hand mixer again to make sure the color spread out evenly. Once everything is whipped together, I use a zip lock bag and make a hole for a frosting tip—this way, the body butter is placed in the glass jar in a presentable manner. Once the body butter is filled to the top, I put a tiger eye crystal on the top.

What does the Tiger Eye mean?

You’re probably thinking 🤔 , “oh, I get it; the tiger eye crystal represents the avocado pit.” Of course, the coloring of the stone help represents the pit but, in all honesty, is what the crystal itself represents. The tiger eye helps ignite the solar plexus chakra. Meaning It improves your confidence while removing all fears that may otherwise cause you to fail to reach your goals. The end goal of this body butter is to help give healthy skin, which will boost confidence. For the finishing touch, I sprinkled glitter on top for decoration purposes, but it can be ordered without if one desires.
