As the leaves start to change from green to brown, disbelief comes over me, knowing that autumn is here. The slight neglect is due to the random sunny days we’re having in New York City. As I prepare to transition the wardrobe into the cooler months, I have a 14K gold necklace staple to help up my (or your) style game.

Styling tips around this time of year seems repetitive. One might notice in every fashion magazine an essential is to layer, layer, and maybe even layer on more clothes. As I  try to figure in front of the mirror with various clothing pieces, one aspect will never fail. I have a staple jewelry piece. During every season, my staple jewelry tends to change. However, I try to embrace the color gold reflecting this time of year. The gold is an inspiration for the trees that are typically golden and rusty during the fall.

My chosen staple piece this year is a dainty zodiac sign 14K gold necklace. I’m a huge fan of astrology, and I even incorporate the designs on some of my handcrafted goodies, such as a zodiac lip balm. Although the celestial keepsake helps people questioning what star sign I am, it’s more to that. I am honestly a big believer in wearing items one might have a connection to on a deeper level and a form of self-expression.

In this case, wearing the zodiac sign 14K gold necklace, a Scorpio embraces who I am and the characteristics that follow. The factors are being determined, loyal, and brave. More or less, I find it as a source of divine comfort as I would if I saw a bracelet representing my heritage.

This past weekend to celebrate the season, I went apple and pumpkin picking for the first time. The gold necklace made a perfect add-on to the fall outfit. I was wearing a three quarter sleeve shirt with the word wanderlust on the front. Style it with darker denim boot-cut jeans. The grey Chelsea-style boots were made for walking. At the same time, the layering pieces’ colors are always on trend for this time of the year- burgundy. I wore this color in a zip-up sweater and wool hat.
