Summer fun is all about the great outdoors. You were enjoying having fun with friends and family, including outdoor activities such as playing sports. Imagine your daughter, sister, cousin, or whoever is having so much fun they grew fond of playing sports. It can be playing basketball, tennis, baseball, etc. Now think about your relative or loved one being told they couldn’t play because of their gender. Precisely what is The Title IX act? A civil rights act law passed in 1972. Where funding in the United States of America prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school. Or any other education program that receives funding from the federal government. Teneral Cellars, a woman-owned women’s distillery, is celebrating the 50 years of this incredible act and putting it face forward for many years.
Remember, women are capable of doing anything they set their minds to, including playing sports. This is nostalgic because it reminds me of one of my favorites movie I saw with my mom. I was so young that I didn’t know how important this movie was at the time. As I grew older and rewatched ” A league of their own,” I now understand, why my mom was so emotional about viewing it. It is based on a true story of the first women’s professional baseball league.
Now I’m not stating it inspired me to be a world-renowned baseball player. However, it does show how we came a long way from being a women who only decision is cook and maintain the home all day. Women have heard the word “NO” for so long it is refreshing to learn there is a law not only protecting them but encouraging them to do something they genuinely love.
