MOOD:

Someone spear the moon in half to cool us down before the sun erupts. Can’t believe this is how I felt a couple months ago. Now that summer is leaving I wouldn’t mind feeling that way again. The breezy weather is upon us, but I’m begging you winter please take your time (pretty please with a cherry on top). I heard someone say yesterday “it’s freezing” while I was riding the D train to 34th street. I thought to myself if she thinks is cold now wait until a couple months. I did feel her struggle having such beautiful weather and now the cycle of transitioning. I wish I could go back to one of the hottest days in the summer Sunday, July 19.

Beauty sleep is always needed on Sundays or maybe it’s a rule I created to live by. I reached into my closet and grabbed the first two things I saw.

redx

The first item is a light blue denim halter-top. The top is constructed with faux pearled snap buttons and a red “X” cross-stitching outlines the two front pockets. The top is very daring and is always best to wear in such excruciating weather. The dress folded in the opening of the second hanger was lightweight; it didn’t take forever to find clothes to fit my mood. All I could think of is screaming out SCORE.

Instead of wearing the asymmetrical black and white dress as intended I decided to use it as a high-waisted skirt. The contoured band at the top hugged my waist. Gazing in the mirror, (I swear to you, not checking myself out) I thought, how ironic it was to pick two pieces of clothing out that were pre-owned by my mother on her birthday. I stood there holding on to the end of my top feeling blessed. The top she owned way before I was born and I don’t remember the last time she showed off that much skin so is hysterical to me that she ever owned a top like that. People know her style as the conservative version of me.

The dress she wore to my junior high school graduation. (Feels like almost a decade ago…sheesh) I felt a moment of being blessed to have another year with her by my side and maybe one day I’ll have a stylist of my own sharing this experience and writing it on her own blog, until then a girl could only dream right?

We went to see “Train Wreck” directed by Judd Apatow .Yes, you read it right, I took my mom to see Train Wreck and we were laughing so hard my eyeliner got messed up (first world problems) I loved how every scene was over the top. Get ready for a spoiler alert; Amy was dating a gym crazed “ideal” boyfriend played by the well-known wrestler John Cena. At the movies, he was getting defensive on her behalf for talking too loud during the movies. He was so mad instead threatening the guy the things that were coming out of his mouth seem like he was trying to hit on him. One of his actual comebacks refers to the guy meeting him outside to fight and he would find him on “Grindr” a well-known app for guys to hook up with other guys. The movie carries on with various pop culture tactics. It follows a woman in a superficial life of being a magazine writer without a care in the world except her dying father. Like every cheesy comedy, she finds love, but the movie brings a heartfelt message in a hysterical way you can look at other reviews and they will tell you the same, you won’t be disappointed. I strongly believe in watching the movie more than once to actually get all the jokes because there are a lot of in between the lines and off guard comedy. Warning the movie is not for everyone. I admit I had a great time, but the movie does have mixed rating due to the fact it’s Amy Shumer if you don’t like her sense of humor the movie, not for you.

  1. My mom went to see Train Wreck with my aunt and told me about the premise of the movie… and all I could think was how it paralleled my life way too much to ever want to go see it with her! Good on you for having a super comfy relationship with your madre!
