I’ve been getting serious about brushing my teeth as I became an avid invislign braces wearer. With often trips to the dentist, I learn the common mistakes people make while brushing their teeth, and I’m here to tell you the errors. Pay close attention, so you can avoid making them yourself. I’m sure you’re thinking what can I learn I’ve been brushing my teeth all my life. Well, with my new handy dandy Oclean Air Bluetooth Toothbrush, it helps you keep your pearly whites on track.

Technology is more advanced since we became a toddler brushing our teeth for the first time. I remember wearing pigtails on a step stool with my bubble gum flavored toothpaste excited to brush my teeth. Fast forward to now a big wine drinker trying to avoid those wine stains, and reminding myself to put on my Invisalign braces doesn’t seem as exciting. Well, that all change when I found a mind-blowing app that made my busy life so much easier. With the Oclean air app, it has tips on how to make sure you are brushing correctly and is even customized for you, making the ten common mistakes people often make while brushing their teeth easy to avoid.

10 Common Mistakes Brushing Your Tooth Brush

  1. Using your toothbrush/ toothbrush head for way too long may seem like common sense change your toothbrush every three months. However, some people forget. If your brush bristles are worn out and look as their doing a “macarena dance,” it is time to let it go and buy yourself a new one.
  2. Not brushing your teeth for two minutes is another mistake. This rule while visiting my dentist trip and is super embarrassing how fast I used to clean my teeth in the past. With the app, you can time yourself, or you can set a timer on your smartphone.
  3. The third mistake is rinsing with water after you brush your teeth. You want to clean whichever toothpaste you use (I use Tom’s Flouride Free AntiPlaque and Whitening) with mouth wash. I tend to have bleeding gum, so I use the Natural Dentist Healthy Gums Rinse.
  4. Floss your teeth, tooth by tooth. You can get the individual floss picks, but if you have sensitive gums like me, it will make you bleed. So I use a dental floss tape. It helps take out all the nastiness between your teeth.
  5. Reminder to brush your tongue. If you don’t clean your tongue, it will have all that white residue. When you stick your tongue out in pictures, it’s not appealing to see, and it means your tongue is dirty!

Remind yourself to brush your tongue as much as you brush your teeth. You can do so with your toothbrush, or you can get a tongue scraper.

  6. Do not brush with a hard bristle. A hard toothbrush will mess up your enamel -long term. A harder bristle will not help your teeth even if not sensitive, and a soft toothbrush will help get the stains out if that is a concern. I also tested it out on a quail egg you should check out below:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgT23IbasqE&feature=youtu.be
  7. Brushing in circles is a simple as can be.
  8. Don’t forget to brush at an angle. The Oclean Air App shows you how to do this for standard cleaning, whitening teeth, gum care, and more!
  9. Make sure to brush no more than two times a day.
  10. You need to wait for at least thirty minutes after eating to brush your teeth.
